We need MOVIE recommendations!
We decided to sign up with Netflix since we have a total of like 5 movies (3 of which are Baby Einstein). It's a pretty sweet deal, I should be getting an Everybody Loves Raymond DVD with a few episodes on it and a Elmo DVD in 2 days! We are VERY open to your movie recommendations. We're looking for any recommendations we can get (we normally don't watch PG-13 because most are so bad these days, but if you thought it was clean...please recommend). Even if it's a favorite movie from 10 years ago, we're open to anything. I love chick flicks, Jared loves comedy, we both love family and kiddie movies, and Kailee loves probably anything for her age (baby einstein, barney, etc.) I expect everyone that reads this post to comment and give us at least 1 recommendation... or 5!!

pride & prejudice!! the new one. with keira knightly. (the 6 hour one is good too). also, hmmm... all the harry potters, finding neverland, indiana jones (catch up so you can go see the new one coming out this week!), national treasure, the bee movie (is it out on dvd?), enchanted... i'm also a sucker for action, my fave is the bourne series. movies are awesome. :)
I also liked Bee Movie and Enchanted. If you're into old movies (Cary Grant, Doris Day, Katherine Hepburn kind), may I suggest The Philidelphia Story, Bringing Up Baby, Father Goose, and I could go on if you like those. One that I recently discovered was called The Inheritance...it's based on the novel by Louisa May Alcott. I'd never heard of it, but I enjoyed the movie.
Zach and I really liked Dan in Real Life, August Rush (we actually bought this one), Enchanted-also, 27 Dresses, The Game Plan (I liked it), Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (don't look for a deep plot, it's just silly), and my favorite Ever After. I guess most of these are pg-13, but I thought they were all clean except 27 dresses had a little language.
I watch Akeelah and the Bee while my sis was here and really liked it. I LOVED Dan in Real Life (pretty clean for a PG-13)I can't think of others right now but I'll get back to you.
Then do a post of your favs after you've used it for a couple months. Do they have red box there? Watching movies is so much fun!
Curious George (love it), Mary Poppins (classic), Three Amigos... we also really liked Dan in Real Life, but warning: It really hit Matt hard, so watch out Jared!
"Sister Act II." I saw it on TV the other day and wasn 't able to finish watching it, and ever since then I have wanted to. Do it for me :) Oh and I am with Sharon on he old movies. There is one with Barbara Streisan(sp?) called "What's Up Doc"... um it is SOOOO funny. I love it. I also agree with Tara... "Dan in Real Life" is awesome. I also love "Batman Begins" and "A Beautiful Mind." OHHHH and get "Ever After" the Cinderella movie with Drew Barrymore in it... it is the Bomb. Now for TV Series... (this is so fun) Definitely check out "Gilmore Girls" 'I'm still thinking... so once you have gone through the list I just gave you, let me know and I will have more suggestions ready :)
We saw "I am Legend" last night ,and we were on the edge of our seats the entire movie. It is PG13 for violence. It has no sex, and I don't remember any language.
nb
Try an old one called "Gaslight" it is intense. Another good one is "Strangers on a Train"
Okay, if you want to see some movies that will change your life I recommend "Amazing Grace" and "The Great Debaters". Oh my heavens, they are amazing movies! "Pride and Prejudice" is a must see too. "The Bridge to Tarabithia" was really cute too. I really don't see a whole lot of movies, so I'm not the best person to ask. Oh, but I did just recently see the movie about Emma Smith. I don't think it's called "Emma" because that's a movie about Jane Austen's book with Gwyneth Paltrow in it (that's good too). Anyway, if you can get the movie about Emma Smith it is AMAZING. Okay, see "Hairspray"!!!! I have been rocking out to the soundtrack and it makes me want to see it again.
I agree with the new Pride and Prejudice - it is fabulous. Emma and Sense and Sensibility are also great and totally clean. If you like older movies I would highly recommend Sabrina - either the one with Audrey Hepburn or the one with Harrison Ford - both are amazing. Breakfast at Tiffany's, Roman Holiday, and Charade are also great oldies. If you like musicals, the South Pacific movie/musical is really good too. As for newer movies, I loved Enchanted, Finding Neverland, Dan in Real Life, and the Bourne series.
I suggest you watch the Care Bears, The brave little toaster, Charlotte's Web, The magic school bus, Indian in a cupbourd, Pinocchio, Winnie the Pooh, The hunchback of Notre Dame, Junglebook, Lady & the Tramp, Toy Story, Pete's Dragon, Honey I shrunk the kids, Power Rangers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, ABC123, The little mermaid, Aladdin, The Olson Twins, (Shannon's fave) and all the little movies that Shannon & her brothers loved a few years back. (Just to name a 'few'). :-) Kailee needs to see the Care Bears. Kailee is 'Happy Bear', 'Smiley Bear', 'Cutie pie bear', 'Pretty girl Bear' or Nana's 'Snuggle Bear'. :-) Love, MOM
Bee movie sucks
Shannon, I don't believe in watching movies...I think that it's inappropriate for anyone to watch movies, especially around their children. I will send you some chalk boards and chalk so that you can start teaching Kailee her A B C's...or better yet I think you should sit in silence for hours contemplating the wonders of the earth...that should be entertainment enough. (I hope you know I'm joking...) I would get PS I LOve you...its DANG good...and its a Heart wrencher....(sp?)
Emery loves all the Disney Sing-Along's. They are very entertaining and it's not too anoying to hear a couple times:)
Wow, it looks like you've got a lot of recommendations. Jared, just stick to the classics: Tommy Boy, Dumb and Dumber, Lord of the Rings, etc.
If you end up getting "P.S. I love you", let Shannon watch that one while you're at work. It's not worth the time. It doesn't have a point and is a total waste of time. (FYI)
